My family has a different mindset when it comes to beekeeping, and we strive to relate to honey bees from a culturally grounded standpoint. We think of bees as voyagers, navigating by the sun just as our Polynesian ancestors did when they traversed oceans to settle islands like Hawaiʻi.

With this blog, we hope to inspire a new fascination and respect for nalo meli (honey bees) by sharing interesting and important information about bees and beekeeping. Just as a swarm of bees comes together as one, our intention is to create a space where everyone – beekeepers and non-beekeepers alike, can come together in conversation to ask questions, share thoughts and ideas, and discuss issues facing the future of our pollinators in Hawaiʻi.
